Bishop Donald Parsons

The Rt. Rev. Donald J. Parsons (1922-2016)Bp_Parsons Bishop Parsons was the 14th Dean of Nashotah House (1963-73) and VI Bishop of Quincy (1973-87). Professor Emeritis of New Testament, Bishop Parsons has taught at Nashotah House since 1950.  Author of several books, including The Holy Eucharist, Rite 2: A Devotional Commentary (1976), In Time with Jesus, and A Lifetime Road to God (1969). All have been re-published in 2012 by The Parish Press in honor of Bishop Parson’s 90th birthday.  Bishop Parsons served Nashotah House as an adjunct professor of New Testament and Ascetical Theology, as well as a spiritual director and confessor to countless Nashotah students.

His frequent presentations and sermons at FIFNA assemblies showcased his skill as an outstanding educator with enormous popular appeal.   He will be sorely missed by everyone.

A Requiem Mass for Bishop Parsons will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (343 Buena Vista Ave., Pekin, IL) on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM and Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 3:00 PM.

The family requests that memorial gifts be dedicated to the Bishop Parsons Scholarship Fund at Nashotah House Theological Seminary, 2777 Mission Road, Nashotah, WI 53058 or on the Nashotah House website.
